Karen Campbell loves books. As a young girl, she was a voracious reader and was fascinated with the book publishing process.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Calvin College, with a focus on Rhetoric and Communications, she began her career in the publishing industry at Baker Publishing Group. From there, she moved on to Zondervan and served as their Director of Public Relations before moving on to start Karen Campbell Media, Inc. Throughout her 20 years in the publishing industry, she has had the privilege to work on 16 New York Times bestsellers and with several top-selling authors such as Philip Yancey, Lee Strobel, John Ortberg, President Jimmy Carter, Shane Claiborne, Karen Kingsbury, Lysa TerKeurst, J. Warner Wallace, John Stonestreet, Sen. Jim DeMint, Oliver North, Kirk Cousins, and dozens of others.In 2009, Karen was awarded the WMPRSA Gold PRoof Award for her work on the publicity campaign for Multiple Blessings by Jon and Kate Gosselin with Beth Carson. James Campbell is the driving force behind Karen Campbell Media. He was a voice major at Central Michigan University and a sales representative for one of the nation’s largest beer wholesalers for 10 years.
In 2010, he helped Karen’s dream of owning her own business come to reality. When he’s not managing operations and finances for KCM, he’s busy catching up on the daily news, hanging out with his dogs, and spending time with his children.
With more than 25 years in public relations, Judy McDonough started her career in the music industry, and was most recently with Harper Collins Christian Publishing, and PR By the Book, before joining the KCM team as publicity director.
The public relations and publishing industry veteran has worked on a number of bestselling titles, and with such well-known clients such as HGTV “Fixer Upper” stars Chip & Joanna Gaines, Dr. David Jeremiah, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, Louis Giglio, Robert Morris, O.S. Hawkins, Tony Evans, David and Jason Benham, and many others.
Judy oversees the Nashville office of Karen Campbell Media, working strategically with publishing and ministry clients to secure effective and positive media exposure. “PR is merely telling someone’s story – but in today’s constantly churning ‘breaking news’ atmosphere, even getting someone to open an email can be a challenge!” said Judy. “That’s why I’m always scanning news outlets, radio shows and cable news programming for nationally trending topics and trends, so I truly enjoy working with authors whose work can be part of that national conversation. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve developed with bookers, producers and editors over the years – and they love the KCM authors I bring to them!”
With 25 years of marketing and publicity experience, Jennifer Valk started her career working in communication within the education industry, and was most recently with Salem Books, and imprint of Regnery Publishing, before joining the KCM team as a publicist.
Jennifer has worked on a number of bestselling titles with Salem Books including: Fault Lines by Voddie Baucham, Christianity and Wokeness by Owen Strachan, Is Atheism Dead? and Religionless Christianity by Eric Metaxas, and The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness from the Babylon Bee. When she was at HarperCollins Christian Publishing, she was privileged to work on multiple titles in the Young Adult category with the Zonderkidz and Blink imprints including Swing by Kwane Alexander, The Silence Between Us by Alison Gervais, Every Stolen Breath by Kimberly Gabriel, and Tiger Queen by Annie Sullivan.
